Puddle Love

After posting these and looking back through the others I noticed a perfectly placed heart. The puddle in the first picture (right by Natasha) is a perfect heart. It is not a photoshop addition at all. Just a perfect puddle for some puddle love.

Hatchlings

These chicks are chicks that hatch in our incubator from our chicken eggs. They are what the poultry world call "mutts" or "backyard breed." I have no idea which hen laid the eggs nor which rooster is the father. As a chicken lover it doesn't really matter to me because fuzzy butts are soooo cute.

I turned the flash on for this picture and when I looked back I saw this. The two chicks on the left went from modeling mode to flight mode with just the flash of a light.

Frizzles

My coveted frizzle chicks. The one thing I can tell you about chickens is everyone likes something different for different reasons. My cousin and I both love our chickens but some of my breeds do nothing for him and vice versa. I have wanted Frizzles for quite a while. The only option for obtaining them seemed like an expensive import from the US. I lucked out finding them locally (AB) and picked them up this weekend. I am happy with these curly little feathered friends. I just hope my poultry posts today doesn't end me up on Susan's blog in the first addition of "Dear Crazy Chicken Lady."

Quack

New unexpected additions to the farm, two Khaki Campbell ducklings. In fear of eye rolling and gasps I am not going to even tally the number of birds currently occupying our "Little Piece of Paradise."

Happy Mothers Day!!

Today, as I was doing my regular mothering duties on Mothers Day I thought about what I know, for a fact, about being a mother. After 6 years of being a mother I present a list of things I know to be true about motherhood.

1) The band aids that heal the cuts and scrapes of today will not heal the broken hearts of tomorrow.

2) Potty training is a reason to celebrate.

3) There is no cap on hugs and kisses.

4) You might not know the answer to every question but you can bullshit your way enough to satisfy their intrigue.

5) Children will forgive you if you have the courage to say "I'm sorry."

6) Sometimes they learn the lesson faster if they don't listen to your warning.

7) The cuteness of a naked baby is worth the occasional accident on the floor.

8) You will say "No" an infinite number of times.

9) Sometimes you need to live the moment and not worry about capturing it.

10) Dancing in the kitchen is sometimes more important than cleaning the kitchen.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

A Chuckle

Pictures that made me laugh. I took some and some were taken by the girls...can you guess who took what? Photographers were me, Natasha and Ashley. The person who guesses the most correct will win a SUPER AWESOME prize courtesy of me. You have to be willing to provide your mailing address PRIVATELY to claim.

I finally got you Ms. Chicken, NOW GET IN MY BELLY!!!

Hurry up and eat...Farmer Lady is coming.

Hi. I have a mishmash of baby and adult teeth and my smile is proof. Don't laugh or I'll summon my gremlin counterparts.

Dirt and grime don't scare me as long as I am wearing a dress and carrying a broken shovel.

Nothing says chicken farmers like a shitty shovel outside the coop.

And he pushes....

and stops to make friends...

And hits the road again. (on a different day)

New Friends

Ducklings Video

As my husband so nicely pointed out: "I know you get on your computer everyday, so spend a little time and update your blog." So voila!! I am going for a bike ride and will be updating with pictures sometime tonight.
