My Other Man - Garth Brooks
I have seen him twice in concert. Once I begged and pleaded for scalped tickets in place of a Christmas present. I think the concert was in October but it seriously was worth it. I think I got a bundt pan under the tree just to have something to open.
Shift Work - Video
Though I love any music that makes me sing and dance I really love country music. I love this song mainly because one of my main mans' is part of the duet, George Strait. He has the MOST number 1 hits ever recorded by one artist...across all genres. Though he does not write his own music, he has a great band and a uncaning ability to pick a hit song.
I am not sure what half dressed women have to do with the song but I wasn't the man (strong assumption here) producing or directing it.

Why, on LP, do I sometimes feel like the kid in high school eating lunch alone?? This is not a far stretch from my high school life but I just thought it would have ended 10 years ago.

Heath Ledger dead at 28
I don't follow celebrity gossip as I have better stuff to do with my time. Aside from their bank accounts and careers they are no different than anyone else....so why all the hype. Anyway I did hear this and thought it was sad. I don't like suicide and it is bothersome to have people go so young.
TMZ has learned that 2006 Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY.
He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime.

Books
Sorry I am thinking about things to post about NOW. So I will have 4 posts in one night compared to 4 posts over 2 weeks LOL.
I am reading a book right now, ALMOST MOON by Alice Sebold. It has taken me about 150 pages to get into it. I LOVED her first two books, LUCKY and LOVELY BONES, but her writing style seems to have changed in this one. Maybe it is just me but the first 100 pages seemed to damn wordy. Seems she couldn't have said the same thing with a quarter less the words. Maybe overly descriptive?? Anyway I am finally getting into it but kind of a disappointment compared to her other two.
I am waiting for a shipment from Chapters. Two novels, SHADOW OF THE WIND and TREADING WATERS (both Heathers Pick). One cookbook by Jamie Oliver, COOK WITH JAMIE. I have purchased a lot of books based on Heathers' Pick and have not been disappointed until Almost Moon. I am trying to finish Almost Moon so I can start a new one on the beach.

I was blessed to recieve a huge china setting as a wedding gift from a dear aunt of mine. Aside from who I recieved it from the set is called, danica, which makes it perfect. Well I was sitting here tonight thinking about what else this brand would have to offer these days and I found a website.

January 21 Weekly Forecast
I think this weeks forecast is going to sound more like a TO DO list than a forecast.
Well we (mainly I) have a busy week ahead of us. Tomorrow is P.L.A.Y at the Bawlf Community Hall. We went last week and it was nice. I got to meet some other moms from the area. Maybe after 4 weeks of attending I will be comfortable enough to have some over for coffee and a playdate. I also head into Sherwood Park for my weekly coaching. I haven't been since before Christmas and I miss it. It is MY TIME of the week and I look forward to it. I haven't decided whether or not to bring my mom and kids along. We were planning on going to Ice on Whyte but with the cold snap we are in and are already busy schedule they may just skip out. I have a fifty dollar gift certificate I would like to spend at the mall. Maybe a new bag (purse) for our trip, new swim suit, etc. Usually I spend gift certificates on others but I think this time I will use it on myself.
Tuesday is swimming lessons and some running around Camrose. I chatted last week about going over to a swim group members' house after this weeks lesson. Its funny she was an national/international downhill skier and I was a national/international swimmer. Water and Ice. It seems the more we chat the more we have in common. We take parented lessons with our youngests and then we have our other children in the same group as well. I will have tidying up to do on Tuesday as well because Wednesday will be a real busy day. I want to get most of my laundry done Tuesday with the exception of sheets which I will do Thursday morning.
Wednesday my mother in law is coming for a visit before our trip and to watch Natasha perform again. Natasha has a dance recital at a Seniors Lodge (I think Old Age Home is faux pa now??) that evening as well. We all have hair appointments Wednesday afternoon which will leave us feeling fresh and light just before our trip. I will do some very last minute shopping as I don't want to have to run into town on Thursday. I want to sit down and make my dad a list of instructions for his stay here. More cleaning.
Thursday is departure day even though our flight doesn't leave until 12:30am Friday morning. Thursday will be last minute preparations and waiting and more cleaning. I hate leaving home with the thought of returning to a messy house. That and I will have a house guest and I want the house spotless for them. I am going to try and get the girls to have a nap Thursday afternoon as it will be a late night and long day Friday. I, myself, am blessed with my moms genes of running well on low fuel. Thursday and Friday will be long days but I generally cope really well.
Generally I am done packing with the exception of socks and underwear. It is nice to hit the beach in winter because you take out your packed away summer clothes and pack them into a suitcase. There is no real laundry in between. I think I have done well packing. We are all sharing one large suitcase. I have packed another suitcase of stuff to give away to locals. Anyway I am tired and I want to vaccum our family room before bed. I tried to ride my bike tonight but was interupted by a girl needed ANOTHER hug and kiss. I lost my groove and got off so its to bed soon so I can make it up in the morning.

Cry Baby
I just finished watching the last 15 minutes of 8 seconds (didn't watch any other part of the movie) which left me in tears.
This got me thinking...Do you cry when you watch movies?? If so, do you have movies you cry in regardless of how many times you have watched it?

Shout Out

Tim Hortons
As I visited a Tim Hortons the other day I was thinking about all the "double cups" that are wasted. The cups get quite hot and I know a lot of people double cup. I admit I could simply remember my thermos but I have since kept my extra cup in my car so I don't have to keep asking for one.
Anyway I asked the associate that served me if they will ever be getting sleeves like the other coffee chains. She said the associates have asked and asked and there is nothing planned. I thought this was quite ridiculous and have since decided to write a letter to Tim Hortons encouraging them to do so.
Not only will it say on cups but the sleeves are also recylable where I don't believe the cups are (because of the waxy inside)....correct me if I am wrong.
I am asking people to email Tim Hortons with my same request about the sleeves. I am hoping that if enough people contact them they may change their minds.
Call me naive....

Saturday
Yesterday was nice day despite a stomach that didn't agree with anything.
My Auntie Betty was having a Christmas/New Year dinner with everyone at her home near Sherwood Park. My mom and I decided to head in early and do a little shopping. We really only made 2 stops as we have another trip into the city for Monday. We first went to a fellow LPer who generously left me a rubbermaid bin full of stuff for Jamaica. With the exception of a couple of things...everything will go. We went into Ikea as I wanted some storage containers for the girls dress up clothes. I went in with the intention of buying a chest I saw on the internet but changed my mind for something a little more versitile. They had some simple felt baby mobiles on sale for 1.99 so I bought three of those to put in the suitcase for Jamaica. After Ikea we headed to Chapters. My mom bought my brother, Daylan, the rest of the Harry Potter series. I think he has the middle books but not the beginning or end. She also bought the girls some new books. I love Chapters as they always seem to have great kids books at bargain prices. Some of them I don't like but if you take your time they surface. I bought the girls a book called COW which is fitting for all the farmers in our family and I love the illustrations. I also bought myself, Time Travellers Wife, after hearing many recommendations on LP. I purchased a laminated world map so I could show Natasha were we are headed. Today we hung it up and used a marker to plot our flight.
Auntie Betty's was nice. She made a lovely supper and smiled depsite 10 kids uner 8 running and screaming throughout her home. She bought each of her Great Great neieces/nephews gifts as well as had "Santa" stop by and fill stockings. I got a lovely Christmas tree ornament. She has been buying me an ornament for Christmas for years and I look forward to getting it. Most of my collection is from her but some of them still grace my moms tree (she's not quite ready to give them up LOL). The kids had fun and did not want to leave. Thankfully everyone left at about the same time so it made it a little easier (though the doorway more crowded). We got to Camrose shortly after 9 and I darted into Safeway for a couple of things.
Ashley fell asleep so when we got home I just carried her straight to bed. Natasha (my night hawk) was asleep by 10:30 I believe. She pottered (Janes blog rubbing off) about while I unloaded the vehicle.
I was still feeling fluish so I took some Niquil and went to bed. I started a new book, Almost Moon, but only read a couple of pages before my body/mind started to drift.

Back to Work
Today was Adams' and mine first day back to work. Adam left back to work yesterday and went from sleeping in to an alarm clock screeching at 5:30. I went from having my lovely husband home to help with the girls to solo again. He was home for nearly a month but thankfully he has a short shift...he is back next Thursday. Then he will do one more shift before our trip to Jamaica.
I tell you I really noticed his absence today. After a month of having help with the girls I sure feel tired today. We will slowly get back into the swing of things.
Today we did a bunch of nothing. I washed some summer clothes for the trip. We played some games and took it easy. Natasha came down with a fever on Wednesday night. She still had it last night but seem to be coming out of it today.
I need to head to Fabricland for some fabric to make a wrap. I would like to have something to carry the girls in should we decide to do some hiking in Jamaica. I could pack a stroller but it is just one more thing to lug around. At least with a wrap it can be folded up and easily put into a suitcase. We will see. I still might try and find a second hand umbrella stroller to take. I just haven't decided.
I am tired. I rode my stationary bike for an hour. I am going to take a hot shower, crawl into bed and read and then drift off to sleep. I am just about finished Memory Keepers Daughter.

Though I am not through blogging about the holiday season I just had to share news of our upcoming trip.
Last year Adam and I took an adults only trip to Mexico. It was understood, by Natasha (Ashley did not really understand), that the next holiday would include the whole family.
We have been looking and trying to decide where to go. We did not want to go back to Mexico quite yet. We decided against the Dominican Republic. We had settled on Cuba but kept looking for other options.
While searching one night a fantastic deal to Jamaica popped up. We look at the reviews, what the hotel had to offer, things to do in the area, etc. We were pretty happy with what we saw but decided to sit for a couple of days. I woke up one morning to try and book and as my luck would have it the trip was registering, SOLD OUT. I tried later that morning with success and immediately booked. For the same price to the other all inclusive locations (Mexico, Cuba, etc) we are headed to Jamaica. There must have been a huge seat sale as a week before and a week after our departure date the price is nearly doubled.
So we leave for Jamaica at the end of January for a wonderful week. I am planning on packing a suitcase full of stuff to leave for the locals. I posted on a parenting website (LP) that I was looking for donations and many members have stepped up. I have been reading that Jamaicans graciously accept anything so I am happy to recycle some things that may end up in the trash. For those interested I am looking for kids books, toys, clothes, etc. Adults like hats, tshirts, magazines, etc. The kids both are paying fares so they each have the same weight allowances as adults which makes filling another suitcase easy.

Christmas!
Wow I really haven't posted in a while. By no means am I lacking photos to blog it was just me being lazy and/or blaming it on the season.
We had Adam home for nearly a month which was LOVELY. We really didn't do anything exciting but just enjoyed the time together.
I hosted my first (ever) Christmas dinner at our new home. I should add the mean was not done entirely by me. My inlaws brought stuff as well as my parents. I got to use my silver and my danica china, both of which I recieved as wedding gifts, for the first time. I think everything went really well. We opened gifts with Adams' family first and later that night with my family.
We had Adam home for nearly a month which was LOVELY. We really didn't do anything exciting but just enjoyed the time together.
I hosted my first (ever) Christmas dinner at our new home. I should add the mean was not done entirely by me. My inlaws brought stuff as well as my parents. I got to use my silver and my danica china, both of which I recieved as wedding gifts, for the first time. I think everything went really well. We opened gifts with Adams' family first and later that night with my family.
