Fun Day
Yesterday we went to Edmonton. My mom had an appointment at Gimbel and needed a driver home. Uncle Daryl also had an appointment in Edmonton so we decided to make a day of it.
I got my hair cut in Camrose at 9:oo am and then I picked up my mom and girls and headed to Edmonton. We decided to meet at Kingsway Smittys for lunch. Everyone got there perfectly at the same time (around 11:15ish). We got a table and had a lovely visit. The girls shared a kids pizza meal, I had an omlette with hashbrowns, Uncle Daryl had a BLT, mom had an omlette, and Grandma had a burger and soup. Uncle Daryl also ordered a quisedilla that was shared around the table. Uncle Daryl bet Grandma the best of 4 tic tac toe games for lunch. Grandma quickly accepted but, no offense, was defeated before the first letter was wrote down. Grandma paid for lunch and we parted ways. The three "elders" ( I use that term very lightly) went to Gimbel for appointments and the girls and I were off to WEM.
When we got to WEM and we walked downstairs I thought I made a huge mistake. There were swarms of kids everywhere. Thankfully this was at 130 and the cashier said the 2200 kids there were clearing out for 2pm. The girls and I, along with Daylan and his girlfriend Kirsten, got in as a family and were on our way to water fun.
the girls and I went into the family change room to avoid the craziness of the womens only change room. There is a sign on the family room that it is to be used for families with children. We went in and I noticed a lot of adolescent boys in there. I understand the price of lockers is something kids like to share the cost of but really there are other ways. Daylan and Kirsten both changed in the appropraite change room and brought there clothes to me at which point I put in the locker.
Anyway we spent about 4.5hrs there. The new play area is just fabulous. The water is only about ankle deep so the kids can just go. Natasha absolutely loved it and after the first slide apprehension went on anything she could do by herself. Our time was spent between the new play park, the dolphin pool, and the hot tub. Natasha went in the wave pool with Daylan but tipped over and went underneath and that was it for her. I was the alligator/shark in the dolphin pool chasing them around with their laughter echoing through my head.
After the pool we went for supper in the food court. I choose a pasta place for the girls and I wasn't all that hungry so I just enjoyed a coffee. I took the girls to the candy place by the waterpark and they each picked out a small sucker. They spent about $1.00.
We were parked at different parts of the mall so the girls and I went to our vehicle and the other ladies went with Aunty Betty. We met at Aunty Bettys and then headed home. It was a long day and I was surprised the girls did not fall asleep. After we dropped my mom off at home Ashley fell asleep from their place to ours.
That was our day. The girls were so well behaved and Natasha said more than once "Thanks for such a special day."

F-ing Mosquitos
I have about 20 bites (maybe more) all over my body. As soon as I step outside they are on me which makes me want to stay inside. I don't want to stay inside because the weather is so nice. Not sure if I can use insect repellant with deet during pregnancy.

Braving the elements...
A mother, on another blog I read, posted a goal of being in more pictures despite the fact that she is not happy with the way she looks. I am rarely happy with a photo that I am in and am most happy (comfortable, at ease, etc) behind the lense. Anyway this bloggers goal sounded reasonable and I thought I would share the same goal. I think it is important for me to be in pictures with my girls or pictures in general. I wish I was as photogenic as my dear husband who has the ability to turn on a dime and take a great picture. Anyway, that being said I am swallowing my need and want to hide and posting some pictures that my mom took today.
My mom made a comment about wishing someone was around to show the girls slip and slide all the way to the end. That was all I needed to hear and I was lined up for my "kick at the cat." I didn't change or anything I just went for it. The girls loved it and Ashley looked at me and said "Mama you're all wet." Sometimes its nice to not worry about being "together" and to just act like a kid.

30 Degree FUN....
Slip and slide on a hot day. Natasha has seen these on TV and has wanted to buy one. It was one of those things I didn't seem to get around to doing but today Auntie Dana gave the girls one that was left by her former roomates. So cost was ZERO but the fun had was priceless. Poppies
I have tons of poppies. These oranges one are just huge and stunning. I have some wild red ones as well out by my garden. I have notices my LUPINS are developing buds which I can't wait until they bloom. I LOVED them last year. I think I am going to get some Peonies from my mom as she is not crazy about the flowers. Funny how every gardener has their own personal favorites. I had the girls put their hands beside the orange poppies to give everyone an idea how big the blooms are.
More Damage
So everyone saw my hail pictures a couple/few weeks back. Yesterday we got part of the one that hit Edmonton with the main parts being wind, lightning and thunder (though not damaging). I didn't think anything was damaged until I looked out my front window this morning. I noticed what looked like a tree broken but couldn't be sure if it was the tree of just big branches. Ashely and I went for a little walk over to see the extent of it and below is what I found. I can't believe the came out right from the roots. Though I am slightly bothered that my nice big trees came down I am glad at the location. They weren't near the house which could have caused damage to our home.
Kittens
Hello Eveyone. I really haven't been feeling the urge to blog lately. I am not really sure why but I have this slight sense of guilt. My husband tells me today that he checks my blog daily...so there is my motivation. How boring it must be to read the same post over and over again.
Anyway we had a litter of kittens last week. Mom was getting really big and then came to the house, Sunday or Monday, and was really skinny again. I left her alone for a couple of days until decided to look for her. Sure enough I found her with 5 adorable kittens. She has since moved them because of our daily checking. I followed her the same day and located them again. Kittens are doing well and are oooooo so cute. Two of them have been lovingly put aside for my dear Uncle Daryl...though he may not be aware of this plan until they show up on his doorstep. So if you hear of anyone wanting a kitten let me know. They will be ready to go in about 5 weeks.

Tough Natasha
My little Natasha bear is a tough kid when she wants to be. She can have a simple accident and send herself into complete, breath shortening hysterics. Or on days like today she can be so tough she has others praising her.
Natasha had two cavities at her last dentist appointment. Today she had them repaired. I really did not tell her much about the appointment nor did I make a huge deal about it. She was told the following:
1)She would wear a mask (with nitrous oxide) with air that would keep her relaxed.
2)One tooth would be capped with a "new tooth"
3)The denist would use a tiny drill to fix her other tooth.
I did not tell her about the needles (freezing) she would have to get has the word needle sends her right to worry world.
The dentist does not, generally, allow parents to come in as the kids tend to do much better without a parent eye present. We got to the dentist a couple of minutes late and they were waiting for her at the front counter. She went right in without any worry or look back. I was sitting on a chair with my legs bouncing about nervously. She was out within about 25 minutes and smiling. The dentist said "What a sweetie, she didn't even blink" then later said "She did perfectly." I WAS SOOOOOO PROUD. She was numb from the freezing for quite some time and kept biting at her lip. We then went shopping to TRU and a quick run to Costco before heading home. Natasha is proud of her new tooth because she is just like....Daddy. I explained to her cavaties aren't good to have and while she is happy now to be like dad we have to work hard to avoid more silver teeth.
Now the capped tooth was a bigger cavity which is why they cap it. If they choose to drill and fill it could have significantly weakened the tooth which could have broken apart years later. The tooth capped was a molar which she will have until she is 12 years of age and the cap should last until it falls out on its own.

For Jane
I tried to get a bubblebee picture but I was too slow or she was too quick. This little guy is quite small. I know it is not a bubblebee or a honeybee and it is smaller than a wasp. I figured my resident bee expert could inform me what I photographed. Everytime I see a bee on a flower I think of Jane from Escaping the City.
Moth
I found this beautiful butterfly today. I actually believe it to be some kind of moth. the girls thought it was beautiful and want to handle it. The wings are so delicate. If anyone can identify it please leave a comment.
Little Birdie-The Rescue
Adam was mowing the lawn today and called us three girls to the deck. When he was mowing he found this little bird on the ground and nearly ran over it. The birds were going crazy and closely followed Adam. The bird was found on the ground, near a tree and sure enough when we looked up we saw a nest. So I went to get a ladder and Adam set up to return the baby to the nest. On his climb he nearly fell but saved himself and with an outstretched reach returned baby bird to the nest. Now I have heard (and should confirm) that if baby birds (or nests) are touched by humans the parents will desert, leaving babies for death. So knowing that we would have never touched baby bird and we are hoping the parents are happy to have it back and continue to care for it.

Hail Storm
Two days in a row we were under a warning. Friday was a Tornado warning and yesterday was Severe Thunderstorm Warning. The thunderstorm warning brought large amounts of hail. The hail destroyed my tomato plants and all the lettuce. It wrecked a number of my flowering plants as well. I told Adam I would post pictures for him last night but I was tired. I am tired again tonight as we had a busy day and I was awoken last night at 1:45am to another storm. No hail with the second but lots of loud, house shaking thunder and lightning. Anyway the pictures are for my love you reminded me this morning that I didn't post them. Everyone else can enjoy them too.
