I tried to get a bubblebee picture but I was too slow or she was too quick. This little guy is quite small. I know it is not a bubblebee or a honeybee and it is smaller than a wasp. I figured my resident bee expert could inform me what I photographed. Everytime I see a bee on a flower I think of Jane from Escaping the City.

It's not actually a bee or a wasp - its a hover fly! They are often mistaken for bees as they try to look like them to scare off predators! There are many different types of hover flies so the one you saw might not match the picture on the web above!
