I am taking a giant leap posting this. This is just something I wrote last night, in about 1 minute, while I was making supper. It's just a deep thought, creative outlet. I have NEVER written a poem other than Roses are Red and I thought it was decent enough to share.
Who's gonna listen?
Who's gonna care?
Who's gonna hug you,
When nobody's there?
Who do you turn to?
Where do you go?
Who to you look to,
When you feel so alone?
All bottled up,
and ready to burst, BUT
bearing your soul,
leaves you open to hurt.
Alone in the tub,
with tissues and tears.
The only thing solved
is feelings pushed to the rear.

Things to discuss...
1) Gardening
2) John n Kate plus 8
3) Self esteem
4) General update of kids
I was going to post on some of the above topics tonight but alas now I am tired. I watched a great special on one of my favorite singer, George Strait. Seriously, he is sooooo awesome. I watched the special both times it aired and will probably watch it again if its aired on CMT.
The girls are headed for haircuts tomorrow and then to Nana and Grandads for a visit. Hopefully with a couple days alone (well with one child) I can discuss some of the topics filling my brain these days.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Here Chickie, chickie...
I sound so nasty to Ashley in this video I almost don't want to post it. I tried to scare her into putting the chick down by making it as though mama hen was coming to get her. It was an idle and pointless threat because the mama is relaxed now and the girls are just not scared of chickens. They put food in their hands and feed my crazy, ravenous broilers. Silly chickens, silly girls. Anyway enjoy a little video of mama hen and her chicks outside.
A clean fridge...
is a beautiful thing. Yesterday I did a grocery shop and decided that before putting everything away...the fridge needed to be thoroughly cleaned. I took all the shelves and trays out and washed them in the sink. I took extra items and placed them in our fridge downstairs. I threw out expired items. I consolidated items. You get the picture.
My husband likes a nice, clean fridge so the pictures are proof for him ;-) Yes I am being a little bit of a smartass ;-)

Sleeping Angel
I just have to state for the record that my daughters are still beautiful and I love them very much. I am having a guilty conscience about all the chicken pictures and Tyson pictures...and no daughter pictures. I love you girls!!!
Sleeping Tyson. He fell asleep sucking his thumb, woke up and then fell asleep holding onto his little elephant. In the past 2 weeks he has really changed to me. He is awake more, grabbing for things (and holding on), cooing, etc. He is still small but seems to have changed from an tiny infant to a growing baby.

Hen and Chicks
So mama hen came off her nest today which means she has abandoned any eggs that haven't hatched. There were 15 eggs placed underneath her when she decided to go broody and she successfully hatched 12. Of the 3 remaining eggs: one died early on, one failed to pip and one pipped but the egg got damaged and it died.
When I moved Mama to her current spot she was nasty and bit me hard, three times. She has calmed down (or gotten used to me) and lets me lift her up, check chicks, etc without much resistance. She does a weird growling thing and puffs up real big just to let me know she does not approve.
The chicks aren't much smaller than the hatchery chicks but they have added cuteness because of the interaction with each other and mom. When they have had enough exploring they scurry under mama for cuddles and warm. When they are feeling cuuious the peak out from underneath her. Some chicks are braver than others but they are all adorable.
Mama hen hiding her babies and looking around for danger.

Mama hen uses her beak to scratch out food for her babies.

Fuzzy butts waiting for mama to finish...

Where am I? I am so alone!

Feed us, feed us!

Whatcha doing Mama?

Put that camera away woman.

Love me and all my sweet fluffiness.

What are you still doing here? Beat it, your disrupting my nap time.

Mother Hen
I bought an incubator to hatch chicks because the hens I have are not likely to go broody. Two days prior to my incubator eggs hatching I had a hen decide to go broody. I moved her to a big dog kennel and let her set on 15 eggs. A broody hen is quite the way to go. You don't have to worry about humidity, or temperature or turning them. Just provide mama hen with food and water and she does the rest. Anyway I let her been the entire time. I did not check the eggs or candle them. Today I decided I should check and see if anything is happening (Monday is day 20 out of a 21 day cycle). I lifted up mama hen and saw a tiny, wet chick moving about.
I ran into the house yelling to the girls "Big news on the farm" and they knew right away. I went again this evening to check and I found two little fluff balls cuddled under mama. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment :-)

Jekyll and Hyde
The girls these days seem to have a Jekyll and Hyde relationship. One minute they love each other and the next minute they are screaming at each other. I saw this moment before bed and had to capture it. Its one of those pictures I will show to them when they are in their teens and can't stand the sight or sound of each other.I remember those years well with my sister and I also remember my mom showing me pictures when we were "buddy, friend partners."

Seriously...WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok another edit: I am not doped up on anything. Yesterday when I checked the weather it was forecasting 40-50cm of snow for the Camrose area. I checked the forecast this morning when my sister asked if I was smoking something and it has changed from 40-50cm of snow to 10-15mm of rain. MUCH BETTER!!! So in conclusion, I am not smoking anything, the snow has changed to rain and things are good again.
ETA: I have calmed down since I posted this. While I am still not crazy about the snow, the moisture it will bring will be awesome for the lawns and flowers and gardens. I don't know about your location but out in Camrose we could use some moisture. Hopefully between now and then it will change from snowy forecast to just rain. Isn't it supposed to be spring SHOWERS? But then again, it is May in ALBERTA - where anything goes.
If you actually look at this and browse at Monday and Tuesday, have a puke bucket near. Vomit.
Did you happen to notice the AMOUNTS?? Seriously I feel like drop kicking mother nature in the face.
Gross.
(Take this next comment with a grain of salt) If this is what global warming looks like for Alberta, I think everyone should start driving Hummers!
Oh and I realize the farmers are probably really happy because we could use some moisture but seriously...in May rain is perfectly acceptable.

Sunset
I don't mind winter but I am loving spring right now. We will be blessed with so many GORGEOUS sunsets through the next three seasons. YAY!!
I think everyones mood has changed with the recent change in season. Longer days, warmer weather and more sunshine is making people much happier.
Ok now back to the garden!

Cute Chicks
My lame play on words...
I took some pictures with the a little boy blurred while looking at the chicks and I just had to get some with my girls. Some people may call them artsy fartsy ;-) but I really like them. I am sure to be asked why the chicks are in focus rather than the girls. No answer, I guess I am just being artistic.

Mothers Day Tea
I don't think I am alone when I say that being a mother is hard work. It can be very trying at times. At some point you will probably be hated (or very disliked). You will also know nothing and do nothing right. You will probably have a door slammed in your face and thousands of dirty looks shot your way.
I am just in the beginning stages of mothering but I'm sure when I hit the rough parts (really rough=teenage years) I will look back at these pictures and remember that she really does love me.
I really am blessed to have 3 wonderful children!!!

Natasha's kindergarten teacher is so wonderful and does a GREAT job with the students. I really hope she is around to teach Ashley but I have a good feeling she won't. Either way, any teachers that follow will have a lot to live up too.

A Row Full of Guests....
Natasha and her spring concert for dancing. I try really hard not to post pictures without asking permission from the person photographed but in situations like this, sometimes its impossible. I have actually read a good "piece" regarding the legalities of public photographs which makes me feel a little better about posting these.
Natasha had a full row of guests which included many travellers. Four visitors from the farm, one from Red Deer, her Kindergarten teacher and the Camrose locals. I think everyone was very proud and enjoyed themselves (at least I hope). After the show everyone headed over to my parents for a great BBQ and a visit.

Baby Shower
I headed to Sherwood Park on hatch day (see below) for my friends baby shower. I will probably get hell again for not actually posting a picture of baby. Again I forgot to ask but the mom was busy being a new mom and trying to mingle amoung all her guests.
On the way home I saw this fox hunting something in the field very near our place...of course I had to take a picture.
