Marwayne Bound

Today, the girls (plus boy) and I headed to Marwayne to visit my blogging buddy and friend, J. We started communicating at least a year ago but started really talking on the phone during the long winter months. J kept asking when we were coming for a visit and finally (last week) I told her to expect us this week with some chickens for her lonely, empty chicken coop.

I took her 7 chickens from my flock and 11 chicks that I received from a preschool in Edmonton. I have MANY MANY chicks coming in two weeks for 18 is just making room for my future shipment. The hens felt at home almost instantly after a long, trying morning. They even showed their approval by laying an egg before I left. The chicks also faired well on the trip and were just about to get their heat lamp as we were driving away.

The two sweet girls, S and S, are so cute. They were both well behaved and sweet. Eldest S talks really well but didn't seem to like answering my questions. Her favorite words during our visit were puzzle and horse. Eldest S seems to have the soul of an old farmer. She walked everywhere and just took her time as she enjoyed her surroundings. My favorite pictures of the day are taken of younger S with my 50mm lense. The lighting was perfect and she was really happy and taking to my snapping camera. I am sad I didn't get the same quality photos of her big sister (next time).

J was a sweetheart. I came home with 8 started tomato plants, some items for Tyson, 5 books, a full belly and an afternoon of adult conversation. I even got to meet G, J's husband.

For never having met in person the day when swimmingly well. I didn't think there were any awkward moments and conversation flowed quite freely. J prepared lunch and supper for us, both of which were wonderful. The girls got along really well and I know my three (the girls mostly) were quite tired on our drive home. That being said, at 1135pm, I am quite tired as well.

I am looking forward to more visits and afternoons together. I think a summer, overnight trip will need to be planned so we can munch garden veggies, sip wine and chat by a crackling fire outside.

Thanks J, S and S for a great day!!
