Moral Support

Ashley is Natasha's little mimic in words and actions. So of course when Ashley saw Natasha "pop a squat" she decided "Hey I need to pee." I was sitting near the fire watching this all unwind...with camera in hand.

Salmander

The girls love the salamander and show no fear. You know, I hate spiders and I really try hard to not exhibit my fear in front of them. I am so glad they seem to have no fears right now and I will work at to keep it that way.

Nacho Libre

Auntie Dana brought these back from Mexico for the girls. We met at southgate mall and Natasha wore her while shopping around the mall. Ooooh to be innocent again!! I had a chuckle as well as many other but did recieve some less than impressed looks. I can't believe some people would find harm or be bothered by a little kid enjoying life. Cest La Vie.

Also be warned that if you don't like messy kids...avoid the pictures. I noticed as I was uploading them (not during picture taking) that Ashley had a dirty shirt and Natashas fly is down and wide open.

Mallards

We have three sets of Mallards just around our property. I have been trying to get nice shots of them but as soon as the here me they are on the move. The best shot is of them in flight. I am hoping for ducklings.

Out My Back Door

I LOVE the wild life that is emerging this spring.

My back door must have a big WELCOME sign that only wild creatures can see.

During the winter the baby muscrat made a brief home in the steps at the back door.

Since the frogs have emerged I haven't opened the back door without seeing 2+ frogs on the door jam.

I went to let the dogs out tonight and I noticed a tail. I thought at first the crazy biting muskrat was back...but upon closer look...a salamander.

Yesterday morning the girls woke up to frogs in the tub (stupid me...no pictures) as I gathered some up for them for closer inspection.

Tomorrow morning a salamander.

Before I know it they will be expecting a creature surprise every morning.

Gardening

So the gardening preparations are swinging into high gear. I have rented a pull-behind tiller for next week. For the amount I want to till (though the walking would be good) I have one that can be towed behind the quad. With that I should be able to get the 3 garden areas very well tilled in one day.

I have most of what will be planted (though I need a couple more packs of some) and have drawn a garden sketch of where things will be placed. I have found some interesting ideas on companion planting and I think I will try that. I am also going to plant marigolds at the end of each row as I have been told/read they keep cats/insects out and repel weeds. While the rest of the province waits for May long weekend I think I will attempt a "Lois Hole" and plant a single row (seeds) of everything before "last frost."

The girls and I have painted garden stakes. Probably not necessary but we had fun doing it together.

I want to build my fences next week for the peas to climb. I plan and making them sturdy but easy enough to roll up and use year after year.

A lot of things are coming up in the flower beds. My tulips, lilies and lupins.

I am tired.
