Halloween Fun!!
Well Halloween 2007 was better than 2006. There was no snow and the weather was above 0C which is a bonus for all the trick or treaters. Since we are in the country now Halloweening has to be done in town, so off to Camrose we went. The kids were dressed up and we stopped in at my dad's work for some "practice." The lovely ladies there gave them they first treats. It was good to have practice because Natasha forgot her "Trick or Treat" and her "Thank you". After the stop at Gidos' work it was off to Grandmas' (and Gidos') house. There we carved pumpkins and had an easy supper of hot dogs. My mom, the girls and I were out the door at around 6:00pm. Natasha knows the routine and really had a blast. She seemed to be always waiting for us, telling us "Ok guys next house." Ashley had fun but did every second house for two reasons: 1) Natasha was moving to fast 2) She was walking and riding in the wagon. Camrose is quite a seniors town so I was not sure if the participation was going to be great. The seniors participated maybe even more than others. They greeted the kids with big smiles, talked to them and were overall extremely pleasant. One lady was even dressed up as a witch and really acted up the part...so sweet. We treated for just over an hour and headed back to my parents for a quick break. Then we hopped in the Envoy to visit a decked out Halloween house I noticed and then to Uncle Daylans' girlfriends house. By this time it was after 8:00pm and the girls (and chaperones) were reaching their Halloween capacity. We headed back to G & Gs' house for costume change (costume to Pjs) and some hot chocolate. We got home, had a extra long teeth brushing session, read a book and the girls were asleep about the time I turned off their light. Enjoy our photos below from Halloween 2007 (taken with my new camera).

A Comedians thoughts on spanking...
The video below contains some swearing but is overall clean. It does make light of spanking children so if this is a sensitive area for you...don't watch.

Love Potion # 9
I frequent a parenting website which I usually enjoy. However, ocassionally I come across a post that makes me shake my head at todays society. A lady posted about her child (in kindergarden) learning the song below for Halloween. She found the song inappropriate and was going to approach the teacher about it after thoughts were given from the site. A couple of us found the song harmless believing that 5-6 year old were not going to read into the meaning of the lyrics. A couple others found it borderline offensive believing the song is teaching children to become obsessed with kissing and being provactive. What bothers me is when one person doesn't like it...and changes are made to accomdate one person (when it is comes to allergies and life and death...fine). When I was in school if you didn't want your kid taking sex ed...you took them out of the class; you didn't demand the school to stop teaching it. I am trying to remember when songs became more than singing for me...when I actually started listening to the words and meaning of them and I know for sure I was not 6...maybe 10+. My cousin was 4 or 5 and singing Dr. Hooks "Cover of the Rolling Stone" and never once asked what she was singing about...it was just cute. She probably innocently picked up while listening to music with her dad. I don't think tv, video games, music, movies, etc mold our children I think the parents do but many people use those outlets as an excuse. Parents can parent any which way they like and fight any battles they want...I just think there are more important ones to me. I will end there because this could branch in several different directions and ruffle a lot of feathers.
Love Potion #9
I took my troubles down to Madame Rue
You know that gypsy with the gold-capped tooth
She's got a pad down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
Sellin' little bottles of Love Potion Number Nine
I told her that I was a flop with chics
I've been this way since 1956
She looked at my palm and she made a magic sign
She said "What you need is Love Potion Number Nine"
She bent down and turned around and gave me a wink
She said "I'm gonna make it up right here in the sink"
It smelled like turpentine, it looked like Indian ink
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink
I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down at Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine
(instrumental break)
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink
I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine
Love Potion Number Nine
Love Potion Number Nine
Love Potion Number Nine
ETA: After I posted this the following was posted in response the orginal poster and I thought EXACTLY:
"Sounds like ecstasy to me...
These kids are all going to end up a bunch of drug addicts after learning this song! They're all going to think it's OK to go down to the local crack shack and pick up and drink a bottle of whatever they say will make them feel good...either that or they'll start worshipping Satan or something."
A lot of people these days want to turn something simple into a world wide, ethical and moral battle.

Go To BED!?!?!?
We had quite a busy day and just got home at 11:45. I quickly moved my sleeping kids from the vehicle to their beds and unloaded some things from the car. I was checking my email and unwinding from the day. Nearly ready to go to bed a huge storm rolls on through and I always love a good light show. So here I was ready to hit the sack and now I am watching lightening and updating (long over due) my blog.
I will update more about our day today....tomorrow as the wave of tiredness is returning!
